Dr. Iñaki is a Diplomate in Veterinary Cardiology through the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM). He obtained his veterinary degree from the University of León, Spain, in 2013, where he also completed a rotating internship. He subsequently moved to the United Kingdom, where he gained valuable experience as a general practitioner and emergency veterinarian.

His commitment to advanced veterinary care led him to pursue further training at the University of Cambridge and the University of Edinburgh. He subsequently completed a three-year cardiology residency at the Royal Veterinary College in London and Langford Vets at the University of Bristol, earning his Diploma in Veterinary Cardiology (DipACVIM) in 2022.

Before joining VES Hospital, Dr. Iñaki spent three years in Sydney (Australia), where he worked as Head of Cardiology at the two largest veterinary referral hospitals in New South Wales.

Dr. Iñaki has actively participated in advanced cardiac procedures, including mitral valve repair using cardiopulmonary bypass and transapical edge-to-edge repair (TEER). He has also undertaken several placements at leading human cardiology centres, broadening his expertise in heart disease and cardiac surgery. His clinical interests include both open-heart and minimally invasive cardiac surgery, as well as the treatment of heart failure, arrhythmias and Boxer cardiomyopathy.

Dr. Iñaki is committed to providing the highest standard of care and is passionate about improving the quality of life and outcomes of pets with heart conditions.

Outside of work, Dr. Iñaki enjoys travelling, playing sports and Latin dances. He is particularly fond of exploring Southeast Asia, where he loves discovering new surfing destinations and sampling the region’s delicious and diverse cuisines.
