Pet Owner FAQ
Emergency Visit
No appointment is needed for emergency treatment – if you believe your pet is in danger, please bring them directly to our hospital on 232 Whitley Road without delay. If you’re unsure whether it’s an emergency, don’t hesitate to call us at 6266 0232. Our team is here to guide you and provide advice based on what your pet is experiencing.
Upon arrival, your pet will be immediately brought into the treatment area for triaging, where we assess all patients and prioritise stabilisation and treatment for the critically ill. Thereafter, a veterinarian will consult with you on further steps. Depending on the condition of your pet, there may be a waiting time – if your pet is stable, please note that your waiting time for consultation may be longer, as we will prioritise patients in critical conditions.
For further information, please refer to our emergency admissions information page.
Upon admission, you will be asked to fill out an admission form and place a deposit equivalent to at least 75% of the estimated hospitalisation charges.
Pet visiting hours are from 4pm to 6pm daily.
Upon discharge, our attending veterinarian or nurse for the day will provide you with detailed instructions on oral medication and any necessary aftercare post-discharge. Your pet’s medical notes will be forwarded onto your family veterinarian, so they are updated and equipped to provide ongoing care for your pet where necessary.
Specialty Visit
Veterinary specialists are just like specialists in the human medicine field – these are veterinarians who have graduated veterinary school, and have undergone further post-graduate training and examinations to obtain specialist qualifications in their specific discipline. On average, it takes an additional 5 years to complete their specialist training.
Our specialists are experts in their chosen field, and are able to offer deeper knowledge, advanced diagnostics and treatments that may not be readily available in general practice clinics.
Your family veterinarian must submit a referral request to VES. Our Referral Care Team will then contact you within 24 hours to arrange an appointment.
Your primary care vet is well-qualified and equipped to deal with most diseases that your pet may face. However, some vet clinics may not have facilities for 24/7 monitoring. In other cases, your pet may have complex diseases that would benefit from specialist work up and treatment. For such cases, your primary care vet may choose to refer you to VES for specialist care.
We currently accept referrals for dogs and cats only.
If this your first time visit with us, we recommend arriving 5 to 10 minutes early to complete the required registration process.
Our specialists will review your pet’s medical history obtained from your family veterinarian, then consult with you and discuss all possible options for your pet’s condition.
