Malcolm graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 1991.  After practicing in England for 3½ years, in mainly small animal practice, he returned to Pretoria to undertake specialist training in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery.

He returned to the UK in 2001 to take up a two-year position as lecturer in soft tissue surgery, at University of Liverpool.  Since then he has worked as a soft tissue surgeon in most of the private referral practices in the south-east of England.  Additionally, he spent periods as a visiting professor at St. Georges University, Grenada.

Malcolm joined VES Hospital as Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgeon in September 2020
